Jyotiraditya Scindia on Kedarnath helicopter crash: "Extremely terrible"

Civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated that he was in contact with the state government to find out the extent of the losses following the Kedarnath helicopter crash.

According to State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) commandant Manikant Mishra, six persons were killed when a helicopter transporting pilgrims crashed at Kedarnath in Uttarakhand on Tuesday.

Jyotiraditya Scindia, the minister of civil aviation, described the disaster as "very tragic" and said he was in contact with the state government to find out how many people were killed.



"The Kedarnath helicopter crash is very tragic. Scindia tweeted shortly after hearing about the disaster, "We are in touch with the State government to determine the scope of the loss and are continuously monitoring the situation.

The pilgrims were being transported by helicopter from Kedarnath to Phata Helipad. Local police and the SRDF (State Disaster Response Force) team arrived at the accident scene quickly.


The catastrophe is thought to have been brought on by bad weather. According to early reports, a Bell 407 helicopter with the registration number VT-RPN that belonged to the Delhi-based Aryan Aviation crashed while travelling from Kedarnath to Guptkashi.
